One of my absolute favorite times of year is now!  FALL  is magical with it’s gorgeous colors and cool days and nights. It has been a long time coming this year but perhaps 100 degree days are finally behind us. Fingers crossed!!

Our house was built in 1926 and has the charm of that era. I love to decorate and I start on the front porch. I am always on the lookout for new items and I have favorites I bring out every year.

Our entry hall has the original staircase and is also a fun place to display for holidays. This year I got my garland and lighted leaves at Hobby Lobby. I usually find great ideas there mixed in with all the junky stuff. When I put it in with my expensive things they fit right in!

The chevron pumpkin is so pretty!  It’s new this year.

The living room of our house has the original floors and windows and gorgeous fireplace. The mantle is new from the remodel done before we bought it. I got the scarf and Trick or Treat blocks from Grandin Road. I love how it came out!

I already had the haunted house and witch from a few years ago. I got them at Brownstone. I really miss going there and finding treasures.

Last year we tackled a remodel project of our own while trying to expand our kitchen. Upon learning that a wall we were going to remove, was in fact the original exterior of the house and a load bearing wall going all the way to the basement, my ideas of a dream kitchen had to take a different turn.   We instead made a little nook for Roy and I to watch tv and added a small electric fireplace from Overstock.com. It has become our favorite place to hang out at night. This little thing heats up the area and makes it really cozy. We had a faux finisher do a little work on it to give it more personality.  My daughter, Paige Walker, took the amazing portrait of our granddaughters and their dog, Cricket this spring.  We love seeing it all the time!

Another favorite place of mine is Pier 1.  Yesterday I got their pumpkin plates and soup tureen and they are just beautiful!  I can’t wait for a family dinner when our son Cal and his girlfriend,Tiffany come for Halloween!
